![]() ![]() But yeah like I said I think quirks like this from the character switching system are to be expected and not that big of a deal.)īut the music cutting out seems like a more widespread issue and a bigger deal. Obviously it wasn't an issue before because it just visually looks like the door squashed them and they respawn shortly after only now that there's a possibility you can switch to playing as them right after it happens is it a problem, especially since we now know the door is actually pushing them into the wall/geometry beneath the door. Here's a video from 8/17/17 of it happening to Tails. (That issue of retractable doors falling on AI characters after you've gone through them and pushing them beneath the door has existed since the initial release. And that's the most major bug I've seen so far with the character switching system. Of course the character switching system is going to lead to some bizarre moments like that. (I'm assuming if I watched all the streams that are currently available on Youtube/Twitch I'd find several more.) It happens twice in this video on Youtube here and here, it happened to Blue Blood here, and it happened to BlazeHedgehog here.īlue Blood's video from Hydrocity where retractable doors fell down on Ray and pushed him beneath inside a wall that Blue Blood then got stuck in since he switched from Sonic to Ray not realizing what had happened to Ray (I'm guessing the game let him switch because it still thought Ray was in close proximity to him) seems like a more forgivable issue to me. There's been at least four confirmed instances of music cutting out in Encore. But in other regards like the scaled back stories, the lesser amount of cutscenes and reusing older assets, SEGA doesn't seem like its putting in enough a lot of money for this franchise. This will probably get buried since it's release day, but I figure now's the time to post about it since there will be even more activity once the patch/Encore is live on all platforms: Lost World and Forces aimed to hit 60FPS, so it makes sense that they (or at least Lost World) don't look as impressive as Unleashed. I'm not talking merely about graphics either. Odd considering that Unleashed looks to have a higher budget than Sonic 2006, and it only came out two years later. Sonic games in the 2010s really feel like they've been on a lower budget. Unleashed mostly does it near the ending with Dark Gaia, but that game's cutscenes already look really good so it's not that big of a deal. Shadow had some CG scenes scattered out, like the Black Arms blasting at the Earth. They would only be reserved for intros/endings or maybe not even be in the game at all. Not with the current attitude sega/sonic team has towards sonic.Īfter Black Knight, they pretty much stopped injecting CG cutscenes into the games. Maybe the next sonic game will have something even better than the unleashed opening, but I doubt it. Pretty weird thing to bring up, I know, but idk, after rewatching night of the werehog, and some of the opening and ending cutscenes from shadow-unleashed, I cant help but feel a bit sad seeing that these special cutscenes are no longer a thing anymore. I will say that I thought the reveal of infinite and the other villains looked pretty badass, but again, it lasts like 5 seconds. Maybe I just have a bias against it since I hate the game so much, but even before the game came out I kinda felt deflated after watching it, even if I had high hopes for the game (it was mainly because of classic sonic for me). Idk, the world itself feels very alien-like which doesn’t really feel like sonic at all, and everything oddly has this almost cutesy soft feel to it, which is really weird to say since everything is destroyed in the video. If you REALLY want to count the forces trailer then fine, but it just doesn’t feel as EPIC as the opening of shadow, 06, unleashed, and it doesn’t invoke the sense of joy that sonic colors’ CGI opening and ending cutscenes do. Generations has that clock, but it only lasts about 2-3 seconds, which isn’t really fun at all. Sonic colors has that opening scene that just warms your heart, as well as the final cutscene when the amusement park blows up, and sonic lost world has a couple sprinkled in randomly. ![]() It’s not like sonic unleashed was the last time we saw big budget CGI cutscenes. It’s something I’ve noticed that’s been missing from sonic lately.well along with many others but I’m just focusing on this for now. ![]() Like the opening for sonic unleashed levels of godly-ness. When I say CGI, I mean the GOD tier stuff. Also yes, technically sonic boom’s cutscenes are cgi as well as the entirety of the show. Before anyone says anything, no, the trailers for sonic forces doesn’t count. ![]()
